Lachlan James

Principal of New Ventures

Lachlan has a broad-ranging background in venture capital, entrepreneurship, renewable energy, finance and government policy. He was Investment Manager with Sydney-based venture firm, Innovation Capital where he led all aspects of the venture process, including deal origination, structuring, negotiations, active investee management, and capital and fund raising, and investing in companies such as wind development company, Windlab. He was head of commercialisation for Australia’s leading ICT research organisation in Queensland, and has been a commercial adviser and mentor to a broad range of companies including battery storage company, Reposit Power. Most recently, Lachlan was head of Renewable Energy Industry Development & Investments in the ACT Government.

Lachlan has degrees in engineering, law, business and finance from Cambridge University, Melbourne University, the Australian National University, and Harvard Business School.
