Nicholas has a double degree in science and engineering and four years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. He has wide ranging experience across the industry, from remote mini-grids, to utility scale solar farms, and from pre-feasibility studies through to construction and commissioning.
He is currently responsible for management of three micro-grid studies for fringe of grid communities in the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, developing an O&M plan for a large embedded network with 40 MW of rooftop PV, smart BESS feasibility studies at five research institutes, and providing technical advice on many early stage developments. Nicholas frequently contributes to the development of a portfolio of 5 MW solar farms in NSW.
Nicholas has substantial experience in least-cost optimization for generation across multiple technologies and load scenarios. He frequently develops load and cost forecasts tailored to the unique circumstances of each study.
Nicholas is proficient in a wide variety of software tools used for solar farm and mini‑grid development including HOMER Pro, PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVcase, ForgeSolar, and QGIS.
