Role Description

ITP Renewables is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Sydney or Canberra. You will be joining a team specialising in power systems analysis and engineering for renewable energy grid connections. Key role functions will include:

  • Grid Connection studies for distribution connected solar farms and battery energy storage systems
  • Connection application technical studies for registered generators in accordance with NER Chapter 5 and AEMO guidelines
  • Undertaking power systems assessments for feasibility studies, grid expansion studies and technical due diligence assessments for renewable energy projects in Australia and internationally
  • Liaising with equipment OEMs, NSPs and AEMO
  • Working closely with ITP design & project development teams to provide technical advice and inform power systems analysis

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of NER and AEMO guidelines
  • Knowledge of Python scripting for simulation automation and data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong report writing skills
  • Permanent working rights in Australia

Desired

  • Master’s degree in electrical power engineering or power systems
  • Knowledge of the Chapter 5 connection process including:
    • Assessment of GPS clauses
    • DMAT Assessment
    • Benchmarking
    • Generation of RUGs
  • Demonstrated experience competing the following types of power systems studies:
    • Load flow
    • Short circuit analysis
    • Dynamic stability analysis (EMT & RMS)
    • Harmonic analysis
    • Protection coordination
  • Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSS Sincal, CDEGS and other relevant platforms
  • Generator grid connection concept design
