ITP Renewables led both the technical advice and project management of the complete upgrade of the power stations and electrical infrastructure on Kiritimati Island, Kiribati.
The projects are funded by the European Union and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The programme involves a major upgrade of the electricity infrastructure for this important remote island, including increased renewable energy supply (PV/Diesel hybridisation), an overhead transmission network, expansion to un-electrified areas and the consolidation of existing stand-alone power stations.
The programme also entails institutional reforms and a range of complementary activities to improve the skills, capabilities, planning and business practices for the operators, the Ministry of Line and Phoenix Islands Development.
