NSW Government Distributed Energy Advice
ITP Renewables provided advice to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment to identify efficient mechanisms for coordinating the deployment and operation of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) in the context of a Distribution System Operator (DSO) and in ways that will be beneficial to consumers.
This involved identifying the latest technologies, platforms and business models and developing a categorisation framework based on the following functionalities: Monitoring, Network Control, DER Control and Orchestration. This was then used to provide strategic advice on the government’s next best steps to support DER in NSW, including advice on the structure and operation of a DSO, with a focus on regulatory issues.
