The Meat and Livestock Association (MLA) asked ITP Renewables to investigate the potential for renewable energy technologies at six abattoirs in New South Wales and Queensland, in preparation for a potential increase in coal and gas prices as a result of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). ITP Renewables assessed the potential of all types of proven renewable energy technologies for use at the abattoir, including technical feasibility and financial studies. The work included:

  • scoping missions to each of the selected abattoirs to assess the potential for renewable energy technologies
  • technical analysis for all technologies, and detailed financial analysis for the most promising options.
