ITP Renewables was commissioned by the Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand in 2016 to provide a better understanding of what increased uptake of distributed energy opportunities means for New Zealand, and so enable the development of policies and business models that can maximise these benefits. We summarised the current levels of PV deployment and their contribution to reducing GHG emissions and generating financial savings. We used to scenarios for different levels of PV uptake to estimate the impacts on GHG emissions, financial outcomes and employment. We then provided detailed strategic advice on what could be done to both accelerate PV uptake and maximise the associated social benefits.
