This UNIDO-funded project involved the feasibility studies of PV and bioenergy projects on selected businesses in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Kiribati, and Samoa and identified sources of co-funding for the projects, with the bulk of the financing coming from the businesses themselves. It also saw the preparation of tender-ready documents for tender launch, so business owners could take the projects to market. Businesses included an abattoir, sawmill, fish processing facilities, and soft drink bottling plant. The work included:

  • Site visits to businesses in all four countries to assess loads, availability of space, and financial capacity for funding project
  • Technical and economic modelling of optimised renewable energy solution
  • Drafting of tender specifications to take to market for implementing the projects.
