Solomon Islands National Electrification Strategy and Plan

ITP analysed three types of electrification options: grid/mini-grid extensions, the construction of new mini-grids, and the provision of standalone household systems (SHS). ITP applied GIS analysis and machine learning techniques to available population data to determine where grid/mini-grid extensions and new mini-grids appear economically justified. The remaining population were assumed to be electrified via SHS.
Outputs of ITP’s analysis were a project pipeline to achieve universal energy access across the Solomon Islands, and the capital and operating costs associated with such a roll-out.
